Changes are afoot

Many people say that the school/university days will be the best time in your life, well I can safely say that I am past that now and only have misery and sadness to look forward to, or something. About a week ago, I finally finished my University adventure and moved back home. In this past week I meant to do many things, very few of them actually got done. I did manage to delete some very important files from my Dad’s computer though, which was clever.

One of the things I had intended to do was tidy up this site a bit (like getting rid of that default about me page). Well that will have to wait for another day because tomorrow I start a job teaching English in Runnymede. This will take place over the summer and hopefully give me a good bit of teaching practice so I can hone (remember) my English teaching skills before I go to Japan.

Expect the next update I post to be a riveting report on what I have been up to there and the crazy stuff I have been getting up to.

Pointless Personality Tests

I wonder how many personality tests there are on the internet, the amount of times I have wasted small sections of my life finding out which Naruto character I am or what celebrity I look like. I think that only one has ever been worth doing, it came out with some random code like “you are a DNFH”, reading about this code I felt it summed me up quite well. I have long since lost the link to this test and I wonder if I do it again whether I would get the same result.

Anyway, in this Web 2.0 era every single site is doing a widget or something to insert in blogs, personality tests are now no different. Today I did a personality with a twist, rather than answering questions with prose answers, I was asked to select pictures based on phrases such as “Art is…..” and “Freedom is…”. The results are as follows:

Read my VisualDNA Get your own VisualDNA™

Is this really me? Unfortunately this widget does not appear to explain what it means by “Sofisticat(sic!), Thriller, Junkie Monkey and Love Bug” makes the widget a little pointless.

What am I trying to say here? I don’t really know quite what point I am making but I remember a time that personality tests were happy producing a little gif saying “You are Shikamaru”.

New Laptop Time

Yay for iSightGoing to Japan is a great excuse to buy a new lap, my old one has annoyed me no end and having a nice new toy is always good. However this time, rather than buying a new PC I went for the style over substance option that is a Macbook.

Why did I buy one?

I just wanted a change, as I said earlier new toys are always fun. Also making silly faces with the camera really appeals to me on some deep level somewhere in my soul.

Despite this though the very first thing I did with it was install Windows. I didn’t use the dual booting method because you can’t share files with the OSX partition but instead used Parallels which runs Windows in a Virtual Machine. Parallels has a very cool coherence mode that runs Windows apps as though they are Mac programs.

It is very cool and just the thing that allows me to run my old Windows stuff such as Word and Photoshop without having to shell out for new Mac versions.I am currently wondering how long it will take for me to wish I had bought a proper PC. Don’t worry, all my moanings will be written here so the whole world can enjoy my rants.

Joining the Web 2.0 community

Like all techno savvy geeky people, I have long been putting random pieces of sensitive information about myself on the internet. To make it even easier for crooks to commit identity fraud on me I have opened accounts on facebook and flickr. Will I ever be rich or important enough to regret all this random shite about myself on the web for everyone to see?

Probably not.
